There is an old phrase, ‘voiceover maketh the advert’. This is not strictly true, but I'll take it! The human voice is still one of the most powerful tools for influencing audiences, and a professional voice artist can really capture the spirit of your company, product, or service by giving sales messages the right tone and character. Sometimes I'm asked for a straight narration, other times it's a case of voice acting, depending on the type of commercial I'm recording.

My job is to use my voice to complement the visual content of the ad, otherwise the message can be lost. Ads tend to communicate far more successfully when the visuals dramatize what the voiceover is saying. One of my first questions to a client or creative director is 'Who are you targeting?' It's important that my tone of voice suits the audience you're trying to reach.
